The village is located on the banks of the Kola Peninsula, at the mouth of the river of the same name. It consists of two parts: directly Teriberka and the annexed village of Lodeyny. The first is a typical fishing village, the second is Soviet-era buildings. Some oblivion of the last decades is now being replaced by lively attention to these places. Tourism is developing, there are annual cultural events.

The most interesting and beautiful places

List, photo with the name and description of the popular sights of Teriberka.

Barencevo sea

For the first acquaintance with the endless Arctic Ocean, Teriberka is perfect. This village is the most convenient place to get to the coast by car. Here you can rent a boat and go fishing. Extreme lovers love kiting and diving. The underwater world of the ocean in clear water is visible at a glance. From April to June, whales and killer whales can be seen at sea.

Sand beach

Despite the fact that Teriberka is located in the tundra zone, there are also summer activities here. In the bay of the river in front of the mouth there is a large beach covered with white sand. The places are absolutely wild, but very popular with campers. It is better to stop on the right side of the beach, the left is the tide zone. At low tide, you can go far out to sea. The weather is good from July to September, but the water rarely warms up above +11 degrees.

Ship graveyard

Before entering the village, there is a local landmark, which has become the most popular photo zone. These are the remains of old wooden ships, the former fleet of a fishing collective farm. They lie on the shore and in shallow waters, recalling the recent fishing past of Teriberka. Now industrial fishing and fish procurement are in decline here. During a storm, debris and skeletons drift along the coast, changing their position.

Northern Lights

Perhaps this is the most mysterious and beautiful sight of the Russian Arctic. From December to mid-January, the polar night lasts, it's time to enjoy the colorful flashes in the dark sky. The most favorable conditions for the appearance of the northern lights: high solar activity and clear weather. On such days, the glow is clearly visible both from the village and in its vicinity.

Small Battery Lake Waterfall

This waterfall is considered the most famous on the Kola Peninsula. There is a small picturesque lake not far from the Barents Sea coast. A beautiful waterfall flows down the stones from its slopes. The water stream is framed by rocks; just before the sea, it passes through a deep gorge and connects with sea waters. If you walk a little towards the battery, you can see another beautiful waterfall, on a rocky stream.

Small Battery Lake

Located near the sandy beach. It got its name for its close location to the artillery battery, the remains of which have survived to this day. The lake is very clean, shallow, so the water has time to warm up well in the short arctic summer. Thanks to this, fans of swimming and sunbathing gather here, the entrance to the water and the bottom are sandy. Slightly higher is the Battery Lake, both reservoirs are connected by a stream.

Dinosaur eggs

This fabulous place has several names, they are associated with dragons and giants and dinosaurs. Fantasy shots really come to mind from the view of this beach. The coast is covered with huge snow-white spherical stones, almost half a meter in diameter. The walk along them, as well as the descent to the beach, are quite difficult. Dexterity and comfortable non-slip shoes are required. You can go down to the beach just to the left of Small Battery Lake.

Abandoned school

In the Soviet past, when the village was at its peak, a large modern school was built. As residents left Teriberka, there were no students left at the school, and it was closed. Today, a large three-story building in the center of the village is a sad reminder of a bygone era. You can get inside and wander through the forgotten corridors. Over the years, the building has suffered more from tourists than from time.

"Teribersky sentry"

At the entrance to the village along the Serebryanskaya road, after the sign to Teriberka, there is a man-made scarecrow in full human growth. The sentry greets the guests, and at the same time acquires new accessories. Caring tourists have provided him with a reflective vest, goggles, skis, and even a badminton racket. The list of "wealth" is constantly growing. Nearby there is a car frozen into the ground.

Artillery battery of coastal defense

Remains of military installations during the Great Patriotic War have been preserved on the high hills of the Kola coast. Teriberka was a rear settlement, but fishing did not stop here for a day, the ships were bombed from the air. Three B-24BM guns were installed to protect against German bombing. The guns are well preserved, you can only get to them on foot, along the coast from the Battery Falls.

Meteorological station

The station was built in 1889. During the war, it was moved to the opposite bank of the river, but the work did not stop. Now work is being carried out in a new building, and you can walk around the abandoned station, get acquainted with various devices and structures. You can get here by car or snowmobile, or even on foot, 1 km from the village.

Worship crosses

The ancient tradition of putting worship crosses in the Russian North has been continued. In addition to traditional places on the outskirts, crossroads, they were placed here as navigational signs. So in Teriberka one of the crosses stands on a high bank next to a waterfall, there is a traditional "meet" at the entrance and on a high rock on the way to Lodeinoe.

Tikhvin Church and Museum "Spiritual Heritage of Teriberka"

In 2014, the temple of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God was opened in an old two-story building to replace the lost old Orthodox churches in Lodeynoye. A new chapel was built at the temple, in the tradition of wooden architecture. Since 2018, the Museum of History and Local Lore began its work.
